I guess I should forgo my plan of updating this blog every week. Whenever I think of doing it, it'll never happen. The only thing worth mentioning so far is that I've gained a grand total of 10kg since March last year. A commendable feat I guess, given that for the past few years I've been struggling to surpass at least 60kg. Now I'm 68. Or not. Well that's what that fancy-looking electronic weighing scale in the gym told me. Hopefully a considerable amount of muscle contributed to the weight gain. A bit of fat too, since I eat like a horse, sit and laze around most of the time.

It's been a very long time huh? Got lazy for a pretty long while although ideas on what to rant about have been popping up in my head every now and then. Finally my mother treated me to a lunch buffet at a restaurant called Carousel in Orchard. A super belated birthday present I must say. Sadly I didn't eat much (according to my standards) but managed to eat a bit of everything they offered. No food was wasted.

Now you know where this post is going. I hate it when people waste food, especially those who like to leave just a bit on their plate a lot. I'm not being a hypocrite here. Those who know me very well view me as a monster when it comes to food. In fact, when I feel like I have a little more to fit into my stomach, I'll gladly wipe off the morsels of food off the plate of others. Why am I so particular about this? Ok my first point: I have a high metabolism rate. So, I take this for granted and eat as I please. I've been stuck under 60kg for years until recently, when I gained 5kg. Hopefully that's just muscle mass I've 'earned' after all those trips to the gym. Kinda makes people, especially girls, jealous.

Now for point dos. This is a bit weird and it borders on me being a psycho. I imagine that the food I eat have cute faces on them, and if I don't eat everything on my plate, they'll start crying. Yes, I'm officially retarded. But I have a soft spot for cute things, thats why even though I belong to the more aggressive gender, I had a hard time giving away my soft toys. Well it does sound brutal because in one sense I'm forcing myself to eat. What's the result? I think my stomach expanded quite a lot over the past few years. That's why I'm still hungry after eating an amount of food that's considered filling enough to most.

Tadaaaaaaa, now you understand. Just imagine that 'Now You Know' picture with the rainbow that's shown in every Shane & Friends episode on Youtube. Ok I'm off for now. No idea when I'll be working on my next post though.

Now I'm currently stuck in a salon waiting for my haircut. Sounds normal doesn't it? What if I told you that I've been waiting for almost 2 hours now? All that wait for a dirt cheap fee of $2.80. Some might say I'm a typical Singaporean, but this long wait is definitely an unfair one. Snip Avenue is the name of the salon anyway. What's the point of queuing for damn long when higher-paying customers get their turn first? Ditching morals for profits. They used to have a queue system, but I guess the ones with bigger pockets triumph over those who just need a trim. With my measly NS pay, why should I go for those efficient $10 Japanese-inspired salons when I can wait bloody long for a much cheaper haircut? Note the paradox there. Thank God I'm a rather patient person, if not I would've just screamed my lungs out like that boy in the Durex commercial.

Had one of those moments when a creepy-looking person goes up to your door and ask for donations. Not to be racist or anything, but why is it that all these people are Malay, I have no idea. Asking for donations for a charity you've never heard of or selling random crackers and stuff. The only time when people of other races come up to your door for money are those Chinese teens selling overpriced Walls ice-cream sticks and cones. But the problem is, I'm quite a forgiving person, so 73.8% of the time, I would give in, despite knowing that I'm relying on a measly salary. I don't know why. It's like I have this 'connection' with that person all of a sudden and I don't want to ignore him or her. Kinda explains why I had quite a hard time letting go of my old stuff. In fact, the squeaky boat toy I've literally had since I was a baby is resting on my desktop this very moment.

Well over time, this has taught me one thing: Close your doors! Too bad my mother prefers leaving the main door open and pushes all the responsibility to me whenever someone does pop up at the door.

Just read a quote that's kinda true in a way, that states Facebook has changed more things than Obama did. Yeah that 'awkward moment' kind you see every now and then. Speaking about change and FB, it's been a recurring thing for the past few months. I've tolerated the many changes but the most recent one is useful and stupid in a way. In the past, you'd scroll down the news feed until you're reading the ones you've read before, but you're unaware of that. Now there's an indication for you where exactly you can stop scrolling.

And now the stupid stuff. 2 points to be exact. First is the more cluttered interface. FB attracted the hearts of many in its early days due to its simplicity and ease of use. Now there's so many things going on (which may be a good thing because it's not so boring) but you've somewhat turned into the world's ultimate cyber-stalker. We have to acknowledge the fact though, that once you've joined FB, you've somewhat signed a contract on your willingness to be stalked. This brings me to the next point: the Ticker function. What the hell is it for? We already have a news feed and now we have its little brother at the right side. It even displays stuff that doesn't matter to us, eg. posts and comments between our friends with people we don't share any connection with at all.

Now loads of people complaining that FB is turning into Tumblr. I kinda want to slap their faces because like hello, there's something called 'share'. We use it to share stuff that yiu think deserve the attention of many others, it's just that now they're in a form of pictures. That share function existed way before Tumblr, you know.

I guess the last time I updated this blog, dinosaurs roamed the earth. Ok maybe i'm exaggerating way too much but I hope you get it. Spent half of the day watching sermons from different cds as 'asked' by my mother. I guess weekly religious classes for 11 years aren't enough.

And that brings me to today's crux of this post: Education. As you all know this is a hot issue in Singapore. In this case, formal education. Our obsession for the best grades and top schools coupled with and a growing army of tutors, amateur and professional, taking advantage of this and offering high fees. In order to survive in this day and age, a degree is required. And as we chase this, we learn various subjects. I don't get one thing: why study so may subjects when ultimately, we're only learning one subject in university? What's the point of getting an A for something you'll forget in the near future? And remember, we paid loads of money in order to reach that 'goal'.

But of course I do understand there is one advantage of this. you're able to realise your potential across various disciplines. What if you aspire to be a businessman since young, but after trying a science subject, you found out that you'd be better off in the R&D industry?

Education is so complex and I don't have much time to rant more about it, so i'll leave you guys to ponder about it.

Well anyway I guess this blog needs a huge makeover.....

The next phase of army life is just a few hours away. New camp, new people, and back to staying in! Well at least it's not for a few 5 days. It feels like it has been a long, long way since i've enlisted. So much has happened in just a span of almost 5 months. But one problem still lingers: I'm not fully attuned to my current way of life yet.

Woah it's like i've abandoned this blog already. Well not really. As usual, laziness kicked in but I have quite a lot a rant on though. I'll just start with something recent: Johnny English!

Yes, after 8 years (the first one was released in 2003 I think) the sequel i've been waiting for finally came into realisaton. Over that period of time it's actually one of the movies that I expected a sequel for. And of course, it's damn funny. It was predictable at first because there were the usual Atkinson-style antics every other minute but as the movie went on, the funny parts, in my opinion, were pretty original stuff. I don't want to spoil the movie but I have to say, the helicopter scene is definitely something you have to look forward to:)

I can't believe that The New Paper rated it 2.5/5 stars though. I'd give it about a 4. The audience laughed a lot, and most of the laughter actually came from adults. It kinda shows that although Rowan Atkinson isn't so active in the entertainment industry and it's been a very long while since Mr Bean ended, people still love him. Full theatres on a friday nights aren't common really. Even that didn't happen to Harry Potter. Some might find his jokes lame but seriously, it's this 'lame-ness' that people enjoy.....

Urrrghhh today's the last day of block leave but on the other hand, i'm no longer a trainee! Didn't do much though. The bad thing is, this is the only day that i'm able to take a break from household chores. Quite a few families visited, hence it meant that I had to be 'locked up' in my home. Finally managed to visit the gym though. And a new bottle of protein! Seriously, NS is somewhat a huge problem when you want to build your body.

Anywayyyy, this post was originally meant to review whether the objectives laid out for starting this blog in my very first post has been met or not. Too bad, i'm blogging from my phone now and i'm too lazy to turn on my ailing computer once I get home muahahaha

21 days it has been. Definitely the fastest Ramadan ever mainly because I've been looking forward to every book out as usual. So what's going on in your lives? Nothing much I guess? Girls my age are an exception though. Endless photos of uni orientation pics in my facebook newsfeed. I look at them at another perspective anyhow: some of the guys definitely would have been an 'evil' commander when they were serving NS muahahaha.

Anyway I feel like reviving the tagbox again so that you guys can recommend topics to blog on, but those damn ad-bots are still making me think otherwise.......

Happy National Day! This time it's significant because it's one of those days when we can take a break from the army. Thank God for public holidays! The problem is, I have to return to camp on the same day. How ironic don't you think? The NDP is organized by the army but most of us NSmen will only be able to watch a small segment of it just because we have to report to camp. Aside from this, Ramadan is into its second week already. Ah, how time flies.....

I'm in the A&E of CGH now, waiting for my X-ray scan. Finally I can find out why my right shin and ankle have been hurting so much every time running is required during training. Limping for 2 weeks is irritating to the max! Urrrgghhh I hope there's something wrong given the long waiting times and such.

Looking at frail elderly all around me in the hospital does make me feel a bit down. That's why, when it comes to death, it's quite a serious issue. These people have led long lives, full of experiences to share and now they're suffering. I can't stand to see the dead as well. Wait.....this is my second post that has something related to death. Arrrggghhhh what's wrong with me. Like Shane Dawson always says, "Let's move on shall we?"

And at last, a proper book out lasting for more than 2 days. Spent the last few hours in school yesterday. I can't believe I miss the place I used to hope that I could get out from. Well I'm sure many others had or are experiencing this. When you enter secondary school, you'll miss primary school, so on and so forth. And I think this is the reason why time seems to fly fast. You hope to get something done and over with in quick time, and long over it after it's over.

It's been 3 weeks since I left Tekong and the Tekong cough is very much alive in me. PUB better do something, there may be a dead body in the reservoir there hahaha. Sorry guys for the mundane blog posts lately. Life has been on a routine cycle and I don't have internet access for 5 days every week. Ultimately, my life sucks.

This weekend was fun though. Went to Orchard to celebrate a birthday and met up with a few of my JC friends who I've never met in months. Oh, and Amy Winehouse is dead now. To be honest, it's kind of expected given the endless amount of crack and other drugs she has ingested over the years. What's weird is that her death has more coverage than the bombings that have occurred just a few days ago. Well one thing's for sure, she had a damn awesome voice. Speaking of the departed, a funeral procession just passed on the road behind me......

So now I'm here, stuck in Fairprice wasting precious time while my dear mother looks for bananas. Till next week, goodbye!

Once again the treasured weekend has arrived. My new posting is too relaxed and my new army mates have various standards of discipline, so it felt really awkward trying to adapt during the week. Ultimately I'm pissed. That aside, I just watched the final part of Harry Potter and as always, it was awesome! I'm glad to spoil the movie but all I can say is, even fake crow's feet can't make Emma Watson look any older. THANK GOD.
